Boldmere got off to a great start with
two goals in the opening five minutes.
The first came following a great move
involving Frazer Austin who found Ben Caughtry open on the right edge
of the penalty area. Ben fired in a great shot that the keeper parried
out to Jake Freeman who calmly passed the ball into the net.
Boldmere won the ball back straight from the kick off and following a mazy run by Ethan Caballero Castle Vale scrambled the ball out for a corner.
Ethan was alert to the fact that Castle
Vale had switched off and played a short corner with Jake Freeman. Jake
ran a few yards in field and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the
top far corner of the net.
Effectively the game was over in the
twelfth minute when Ethan finished off a great move involving Brad Priddey
who was playing in defence but getting forward at every opportunity.
The fourth followed very quickly when George Jenkins passed the ball down the line to Ethan who cut in and as he was about to shoot, was brought down for a penalty.
Ethan got up and hit a tremendous penalty
into the top of the net.
The fifth goal came just before half
time when Ben Caughtry lofted a great cross into the area and Ethan
Caballero just failed to get on the end of it with his head, but he
wrong footed the keeper and the ball flew into the corner of the net
untouched!
In the second half Boldmere created loads
of opportunities to score but failed to add to their lead.
Jack Whitehouse set up several attacks
and Liam Nevin almost finished a great move at the far post but his
shot just went wide.
The highlight off the second half however was provided by George Smith in goal.
Following an extremely dubious decision by the referee Castle Vale were awarded a penalty.
The Castle Vale player hit a high, fierce
shot that George somehow managed to save but the rebound went straight
back to the player and George bravely dived at the players feet and
his shot went wide. A fantastic save.
Alistair Wells now playing up front worked his socks off to create chances for Brad Priddey and George Jenkins.
Alistair was also unlucky with a free
kick that went just wide.
The most impressive piece of play in
the second half came from Will Jones late in the game. He was involved
in a one two with Brad Priddey and beat his player with a fabulous piece
of skill, his cross into the penalty area with his weaker foot was superb,
splitting the defence and begging to be knocked in, but his team mates
just failed to reach it.
Although Boldmere failed to score in
the second half their all round team play was excellent. They have lost
a lot of time from football and it will take a couple of weeks to get
back to the form they were in before the six week break.
Man of the Match was Jake Freeman, not
only did he score the goal of the game, he passed the ball in all areas
of the pitch and brought other players into the game.

Inkberrow Eagles U11’s: 2
The lack of regular football lately showed as Boldmere went down in this league cup clash to a commiteed Inkberrow side. The Falcons goal came from Joe Jobson & the Man of the Match was awarded to Ryan Bevan for another assured defensive display.

Boldmere Falcons U11 1 - 2 Inkberrow Eagles U11
Boldmere never got started in this match as the lack of regular football lately showed. The first half began with some nice passing movement from the home side but this quickly disappeared as Inkberrow threatened with their quick forwards. Boldmere were second to every ball and it was no surprise when Inkberrow took the lead after sloppy marking saw their forward get away from the defence & coolly slot home giving the Falcons keeper no chance. The second half was a different affair as Boldmere came more into the game & began to pin the away side in their own half. Boldmere created several openings but it wasn't until a speculative effort from Joe Jpobson evaded everyone to nestle in the corner of the net that they got back on level terms.
The Falcons then pressed for the winner
but they hadn't learned the lesson from the Inkberrow goal in the first
half as the Inkberrow attackers, in particular the number 17, got free
but leuckily failed to convert the chances as the home defence got in
some last ditch tackles. The away side's winner came from a fantastic
freekick with only a minute to go however Boldmere can feel a little
aggrieved that the free kick was given as firstly Harry Morris was chopped
down as he cleared a ball with the Inkberrow player taking Harry's standing
leg and from the resulting ball towards the edge of the Falcons box
the receiving attacker patted the ball down from above his head with
both hands in order to get the ball under control and run at the defencewhere
he was fouled on the edge of the box. A referee's job is thankless however
both these incidents occurred right in front of him. It is 'swings &
roundabouts' so I am sure that we will get our bits of luck in the games
to come.
