Holy Name Manor U10’s: 0

Boldmere Falcon Colts: 4

On a very small pitch with long grass and lots of leaves, the conditions for playing a passing game were not ideal. Holy Name having started the season really well, were up for a visit from Boldmere and came flying out the blocks.

In the first three minutes, Holy Name had two corners, the first one being dealt with superbly by a combination of Alistair Wells and Brad Priddey. Following the second corner Ethan Caballero went on a run the full length of the pitch down the left hand side, past three players and his cross into the far post was met by Alistair Wells who just put the ball over the bar.

Boldmere gained confidence from that and went ahead immediately afterwards.

From a Boldmere corner, the ball was cleared out to Brad Priddey, who's first touch was excellent. He played the ball hard and low into the edge of the box where Ben Caughtry's control was instant. Ben turned magnificently and planted the ball into the opposite corner, a real top class finish.

Boldmere then had a spell where the approach play was excellent, creating four or five chances, but Holy Names keeper was in super form, stopping everything that came his way. One move from the back was started by George Jenkins, and his pass to Jake Freeman was moved on quickly to Liam Nevin. Liam found Ben Caughtry on the edge of the box but again, the Holy Name keeper kept out Bens low shot.

On two occasions Frazer Austin showing great determination to score, was clear on goal and his shots shaved the bar and the post. Liam almost got on the end of a fierce Jake Freeman corner and his header went just wide. The last action of the first half was created by Ethan Caballero and ended in Boldmere going 2-0 up. Ethan went on another run down the left, and his cross in to the far post was turned into his net by an unfortunate Holy Name defender. However, full credit to Ethan, because it was the quality of the ball that that caused the defender to lash at it.

In the second half, Boldmere again started slowly, and Holy Name had a couple of real close shots, that George Smith in goal dealt with really well. In this period of play, Will Jones made some vital interceptions and challenges. The defence were excellent when they needed to be, and indeed the whole team were battling for the ball in every area of the pitch.

Finally, Boldmere started to play again and the third goal was created by Boldmere's insistence on playing football under pressure.

Liam Nevin had the ball in the corner and played a pass into Alistair Wells. Brad Priddey had positioned himself in a great position on the edge of the box, shouting at Alistair to pass to him. The Holy Name defence were convinced that Brad was going to get the ball, but Alistair played a wonderful pass between two defenders into the path Of Ethan Caballero who ran onto it and smashed it into the net. Holy Name still didn't give up and they deserve a lot of credit for their attitude.

The final goal of the game was a real joy to watch. Holy Name were on the attack, and Brad Priddey intercepted a through pass, and gave the ball to Jake Freeman just inside his own half. Jake immediately released Ethan Caballero down the left, who looked up and saw Alistair Wells breaking from defence, he passed the ball to Alistair who ran with the ball, drew a defender and slipped the ball to Liam Nevin to put him though on goal from the right wing position, and as the keeper came out to him, Liam very unselfishly squared the ball to a wide open Jake Freeman in front of goal who finished with ease.

Holy Names management team to their extreme credit, applauded the goal and the glow from the Manager and Assistant Manager of Boldmere could have lit the Blackpool Illuminations! There were no more incidents of note, and Boldmere were relieved to come away from a very tough fixture with a win.

The Man Of The Match award went to Alistair Wells, who was involved in everything. He created goals and stopped Holy Name from creating goals. Following on from his performance in training on Friday, he fully deserved the captaincy and Man Of the Match award.

Starlands St. Anne's U11's:     (1) 3

Boldmere Falcon Colts U11's:  (0) 1

This was a match that Boldmere should have won. In a match that they dominated for long periods Boldmere will feel disappointed at not getting anything out of this game. This was an excellent local derby, where both teams should take a great deal of credit. However Boldmere created enough good chances that they really should have taken all three points and the obvious bragging rights.

However, as with previous games this season, the run of the ball did not go Boldmere's way. Starlands played their part and played well and accepted their chances as they came. They went 1-0 up in the first half after some sustained Boldmere pressure. Boldmere replied straight from the kick-off and should have had a penalty after some neat work between Matthew Cheesman and Platini Kamden.

In the second half Boldmere went straight at Starlands again but could not find a finish. Lucky deflection increased Starlands leads followed by a scramble over the line too make it 3-0. Boldmere created a number of excellent opportunities and never stopped trying; they had another blatant penalty turned down when Brett Brown was taken from behind. Brett finally got the goal they deserved but on another day Boldmere would have run away with this fixture.

Boldmere Falcons U11’s: 2

Newfield Lions U11’s: 5 (After Extra Time)

However Newfield pegged them back in the second half to take the tie into extra time. In extra time Boldmere had their chances but were undone in the last 3 minutes as Newfield rattled in 3 goals. The Royal Mail Sports Foundation Man Of The Match was awarded to Joe Webb for a magnificent battling midfield display.

Boldmere Falcons U11’s:  2

Newfield Lions U11’s: 5 (After Extra Time)

Both sides went into this open cup match unbeaten with the Premiers Newfield having only conceded one goal so far this season. A depleted Boldmere started well dominating midfield with a workrate that shocked their opposition. George Grigg looked to have got on the scoresheet with a superb finish ponly for the Newfield linesman to raise his flag for a dubious looking offside decision. This only delayed the inevitable however when a fantastic flowing move saw the ball played into the run of Joe Burke who lofted the ball over the advancing Newfield keeper into the net from fully 20 yards. The half played out with Boldmere shackling their counterparts giving them no clear chances.

The Falcons seemed to have started the second half as they ended the first with a home player first to every ball & winning every 50-50 contest. So it was no surprise when another brilliant passing move saw a pin point cross come in from the left for Andrew Perry to cooly slot home. Boldmere let Newfield back into the game when some poor marking allowed the away side to pass the ball into their striker who was free in the box & he duly despatched the ball giving the keeper no chance & Newfield a way back into the tie. The Falcons should have learned from this mistake however within minutes once again Newfield were given time & space to prod the ball home to equalise despite some valiant efforts from the home defence to keep it out. The rest of the half played out with Boldmere looking the more likely to score. Into the first period of extra time it was Boldmere who once again looked the team most likely to score but they couldnt convert the chances that came their way helped by no small amount by some extremely strange looking offside decisions by the away linesman. . With the clock running down & penalties looking the most likely way of separating two well matched sides Boldmere suddenly conceded a very poor goal as the level of effort seemed to catch up with the home side. Two further goals followed in quick time with all 3 coming in the last 3 minutes. The scoreline flattered the visitors massively & they will be relieved to get away with the victory. The Falcons should be rightly proud of their performance against a superb Newfield side and will learn that they must take their chances against the top sides. The Royal Mail Sports Foundation Man Of The Match was awarded to Joe Webb for a superb storming midfield performance.

Boldmere Falcons Girls U12’s: 2

Walsall Ladies: 3

Boldmere finally lost their 100% record to a strong Walsall side in an excellent game. Top scorer Heather Clarke netted again and a great goal from girl of the match Bethany Griffiths looked like earning Falcons a point until Walsall grabbed an undeserved winner.

Boldmere Falcons S&S U13’s: 4

Wychall Wanderers: 2

Boldmere started with only 11 fit players, and soon went behind. The lads regrouped and after goals from Kieran McConville and a Connor Jones hat trick they sealed a 4-2 win. Aaron Knight won man of the match for a solid defensive display.

Boldmere started this match with only 11 players and soon went behind from a cracking Wychall header. The boys then started to play their game and soon equalised through Kieran McConville. Connor Jones then took the lead for Boldmere, however, Wychall managed to draw level against the run of play. The lads dug deep and took control of the game with two more goals from Connor, to make it his first hat trick for the the team.
