Boldmere Falcons Colts U9’s: 2

Four Oaks Puma’s U9’s: 1

In a closely fought match that saw many challenges on goal, Boldmere Colts U9’s were victorious, winning 2 goals to the Pumas 1. Colts got their first win of the season by finding their passing game that had been missing in their two previous matches. Both teams put in good performances and kept pushing forward until the final minutes of the game.  The first goal came about by intelligent play between Oliver Nash and Max Brookes. Oliver Nash played a ball into the channel for Max Brookes to chase. After great wing work Max shot the ball across the box for one of the Puma’s defenders to turn into his own net under pressure from Oliver Nash. Goal awarded to Max Brookes. The Colts got their deserved second goal in the second half from a great left foot free kick into the top corner. Filip Kozlowski taking the free kick after a reckless tackle on Billy Sheridon on the edge of the box. Pumas were able to pull one back in the dying stages of the game from a great shot outside the area. Unfortunately it was too little too late for the Pumas as the game was all but over. They have a chance to equalise with 30 seconds to go but pulled the shot wide. Man of the Match was awarded to Filip Kozlowski for an all round performance.

Long Report

During the first half, Colts played convincingly as a team, holding their positions and marking tightly. Good team communication and skilful passing, showed a return to form for the Colts. The first goal was the result intelligent play between Oliver Nash and Max Brookes. Oliver Nash playing in the middle of the park for the first time won the ball from the Puma’s midfielder. Max Brookes called for a pass and Oliver Nash obliged by passing the ball behind the Puma’s Left Back. Max Brookes turned Puma’s Left Back and picked the ball up by the corner flag. As the defender came to close Max Brookes down Max knocked the ball around the defender and shot it across the box only for the covering defender under pressure from Oliver Nash to turn the ball into his own net (1-0). This goal spurred the Pumas into life requiring the team to defend in unison. Man of the match Filip Kozlowski, put in a performance to be proud of, blocking and clearing many dangerous balls near the Colts goal. Ably supported by Billy Sheridan and goalkeeper Conor Dardis when exposed. On the one occasion the Puma’s were able to break free of Filip and Billy Oliver Nash came to clear the ball. Both Filip and Conor putting in strong performances keeping clear heads when under pressure from the Pumas in the first half. On the one occasion the Pumas broke free they were denied by the woodwork of the goal.

In the second half Pumas stepped up the pressure on Colts, but were denied converting their shots into goals by stoic defending and team work. Colts second goal came about from a free kick. Billy Sheridon made a dazzling run from the defence only to be fowled on the edge of the Pumas box after a neat one two will Daniel Shakespeare. Filip Kozlowski being a natural left footer was tasked with taking the free kick. Filip step up and release an unstoppable powerful left foot in swinger into the top corner of the Pumas goal to earn the Colts their second goal of the game. The second goal motivated the Pumas who raised their game. The Pumas played with greater conviction after the second goal and managed to push the Colts back. Colts started to defend deeper partly due to the determination of the Pumas to try and salvage something from the game and partly due tot he Colts tiring. Pumas got a deserved goal, although controversial with 90 seconds to go. After a sustained period of pressure from the Pumas their defender, who had pushed up, hit a speculative shot from outside the box that took Conor Dardis by surprise. Conor managed to take some pace of the ball but not enough to stop it. Lucky for the Colts Billy Sheridon had dropped back on to the goal line and cleared the ball. However, the Puma’s Lines Man gave a goal that the Referee awarded (2-1). The Pumas getting the bit between their teeth went for broke and attacked the Colts from the kick off. Unfortunately for the Pumas it was too little too late as they ran out of time. Just as the final whistle was blown the Pumas had a chance to shoot from outside of the box to try and equalise. However, the Puma’s striker pulled the shot wide.

Lichfield City Villains U10’s: 2

Boldmere Falcons Colts U10’s: 2

A break from the league, with an away cup match at in form Lichfield City Villains. Boldmere started the better, playing some great football up a steep hill.
Brad Priddey and George Jenkins were playing superbly in defence for the Falcons and creating the springboard for several attacks.

After 8 minutes, Ethan Caballero went on a superb run down the left wing, beating two players and pulling the ball back for Alistair Wells who struck a fantastic shot into the far corner of the net for a great opening goal.

Will Jones was causing all sorts of problems in the Lichfield defence and several times created shooting opportunities for himself and Frazer Austin. Frazer was working very hard on the right side of midfield supporting the attack and getting back to defend.

The most notable attack for the rest of the first half came when Jake Freeman and Ethan Caballero linked up on the left hand side and as the ball was passed inside to alistair wells, his tremendous shot struck a Lichfield defender as it was about to fly into the net.

Jack Whitehouse was playing some great football at the back, and his calmness on the ball was a joy to watch. In the second half, Liam Nevin created several chances for Boldmere to increase their lead, setting up Ben Caughtry with some nice passes. Unfortunatly as always, if you dont make the most of good possession, the other team is always in with a chance.

Boldmere were caught twice on the break and conceded very poor goals. Both of them were goal mouth scrambles and all of a sudden they found themselves 2-1 down having totally controlled the game. With 5 minutes left, Alistair wells took a quick throw in for Ben Caughtry to run onto down the left hand side. Ben beat his man and squared the ball into the box and Ethan Caballero beat Lichfields keeper to the ball to bravely turn the ball home. Ethan took quit a heavy knock for his pains, but it was a real goalscorers goal.

Boldmere had one last chance to settle it in normal time when Jake Freeman controlled the ball at the far post and struck a great shot that looked a goal all the way until the Lichfield goalkeepers face intervened!

EXTRA TIME

Lichfield nearly scored a couple of goals in extra time as they finished the stronger. However George Smith in goal was outstanding. One double save he made at the feet of the same player was top class. He has had several weeks of very little action, but he showed no signs of rustiness as he kept Lichfield at bay single handedly.

The dreaded penalty shoot out came and went, Lichfield won it 2-1.

The man of the match award could realy only go to one player, George Smith in goal was an inspiration, his bravery and his agility meant Boldmere almost pulled of a great result against much more experienced opponents.

Boldmere Falcons U10's: 3
Norton Canes U10's: 2

A cracking come back from Boldmere after being  2 down inside 10 minutes. A fine shot from Oliver Light, a great individual goal from Tommy West and a late strike from Harrison Coe ensured Boldmere stayed in the cup.
Man of the match was Oliver Light.

Castle Vale JSK U11’s: 7

Boldmere Falcon Colts: 4

Boldmere took control of the first half through goals from Brett Brown; Platini Kamdon and Sam Shaw. However Boldmere had a disastrous fifteen minutes in the second half and their defensive mistakes gave Castle Vale the game. In the final stages of the match Boldmere rallied themselves and could so easily have won the match. Once again Boldmere lost a game that they clearly should have won. However bar the fifteen minute spell in the second half their performance has to be commended.

Arden Forest U11’s: 1

Boldmere Falcons U11’s: 11

Boldmere went into this game looking to maintain their 100% start to the season with a good performance and did not disappoint. They dominated from the start pinning the home team into their own half with some superb passing & pressing of the ball that was to typify the entire game. It was no surprise when the Falcons took the lead through Finlay Sadler and they began to rack up the chances as they completely outplayed their hosts. Leading by 5 goals as they came into the halftime break, including a blockbuster strike from Andrew Perry, the Falcons could have been many more ahead as they carved the valiant Arden Forest defence apart.

The second half, if anything, saw the Boldmere lads up their performance even further & the goals & chances continued to rain in on the Arden goal. A superb strike from Joe Jobson from fully 30 yards & a stunning strike from Nathan Quinlan were the pick of the second half goals. Top scorer George Grigg continued his goal a game strike rate. The entire team played superbly with it being extremely difficult to pick a man of the match. Jack Lowe was fantastic in midfield weighing in with 2 goals. Finlay Sadler again scored a brace of goals for his second consecutive game. Joe Burke created chance after chance and finished with 2 goals himself. With Joe Webb, Andrew Perry, Nathan Quinlan & Joe Jobson also scoring it shows the goal scoring ability we have all over the park. It should also be noted that the defence looked extremely strong with Jacob Beeke, Harry Morris, Joel Kirsten, Andrew Roskell, Ryan Bevan & Josh Raby-Gordon all having eye catching performances. The Arden goal came from a superb header from a rare home corner giving the Falcons keeper no chance.

The score line today could & possibly should have been far higher with Boldmere creating too many chances to mention but how can you criticise the lads when they turn in such a stunning performance to consolidate their top of the table position. The Royal Mail Sports Foundation Man Of The Match was awarded to Andrew Perry for a fantastic all round performance.
