Boldmere had to work hard to beat a determined
Cannock team.
The opening fifteen minutes were a tale
of hard work and little quality.
Alistair Wells in the centre of midfield
was putting in his usual hard work and ensuring that Boldmere stayed
camped in the Cannock half with some good passing.
Down both flanks Frazer Austin and Ethan
Caballero were trying to break through the packed defence with some
tenacious play.
Ben Caughty up front was always out numbered
and space in the Cannock area was at a premium.
George Jenkins and Brad Priddey at the
back were having to play camped in the Cannock half and on the rare
occasion that Cannock got the ball forward, George Smith in the Boldmere
goal had to command his penalty box, as any Cannock clearances inevitably
dropped in between his defenders and himself.
A minute before half time, Boldmere went
ahead and it was due to Will Jones tenacity on the ball.
Will battled through two defenders and
crossed the ball to the far post where Ethan Caballero poked the ball
home, just beating Liam Nevin to the ball.
In the second half, Boldmeres dominated
but still had to play patiently to break down the Cannock defence.
Jake Freeman in the centre of midfield,
was at the heart of most of the Boldmere moves, bringing his team mates
into the game with some calm passing.
Boldmeres second goal was an excellent
team goal, as Jake Freeman passed the ball out to Liam Nevin on the
right hand side. Liam picked out an unmarked Ben Caughtry in the penalty
area and rather than shoot from a tight angle, Ben looked up and spotted
Will Jones unmarked at the far post who smashed the ball high into the
net.
The third goal again involved Will Jones
who was brought down from behind about five yards outside the box.
Jake Freeman struck the free kick into
the net with a hard low shot past the wall.
Frazer Austin playing at the back made
a great run from the half way line and almost scored a birthday weekend
goal with a shot that flashed just past the post.
The final goal was a 'made in Walmley'
special.
Jake Freeman won the ball on the half
way line and played a one two with Will Jones. With one defender to
beat, Jake played another one two, this time with Liam Nevin and Liams
return pass was perfectly weighted for Jake to just knock the ball first
time, past the onrushing keeper into the net.
Boldmere will come up against tougher
opponents this season, but must have the courage to keep trying to play
their football at all times.
Cecil gave Jake Freeman the Man of the Match award for his calmness on the ball and his two goals.

After playing only one league game in two months Boldmere got back to business with a well deserved victory. Boldmere were simply outstanding in the first half. They moved the ball around the pitch with speed and confidence. Holy Name simply had no answer to their attacking play. Boldmere used the whole width of the pitch to turn Holy Name in circles. Callum Williams and Daniel Thompson were superb on the wings, whilst Alex Reely and Jack Colly were rock solid in the middle of the park. Brett Brown and Platini Kamdon were simply outstanding together up front. Whilst Boldmere attacked with confidence their defence were cool and calm whenever Holy Name mounted and attack.
Four-nil up at half time Boldmere should have gone on to win this match with ease. However Holy Name came out and put Boldmere under some pressure. With the lack of match practice and disrupted training Boldmere started to panic. Simple, basic mistakes started to creep in to their game.
This match should have been about how many Boldmere could win by. However in the end they were simply happy to get the three points.
